The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade will have another campus in the capital, New Delhi. On February 22, 2019, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, laid the foundation stone of its construction. The campus will be located at Maidan Garhi in New Delhi.
Suresh Prabhu said a few words about how IIFT is important in the progress of the nation. He laid emphasis on the curriculum and opportunities provided by this institute and how it stands unique among its competitors. He further said that IIFT is not limited to only being a centre which promotes external trade, it will play an essential role in policy making and also in research of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector.

The Director of IIFT, Professor Manoj Pant was also present for this ceremony. He was joined by Professor Vijaya Katti, who is the Dean of Administration (Academic), Dr. K. Rangarajan who is the Centre Head of IIFT Kolkata and the Registrar of IIFT, DR. P. K. Gupta.

The construction of the new campus of IIFT is being done under NBCC India Limited. It will be spread on an area of about 5.6 acres and the construction will be completed in a span of 2 years. Some important facilities that will be provided by this campus are smart classrooms, mechanised basement car parking, state-of-the-art audio video system and a building management system. A 250-kilowatt solar power plant will also be installed. There will be special features to help people with disabilities and ensure that they get barrier-free access.
