The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi has collaborated with the University at Buffalo (State University of New York) to offer a joint Ph.D. course . As per the agreement, both premier institutes will develop and initiate a system of academic exchanges. The initiative will allow Ph.D. students to perform coordinated research students at IIIT Delhi and University at Buffalo.
As per the student exchange programme, a Ph.D. student will get equal periods at IIIT Delhi and University at Buffalo SUNY. Supervisors of both institutes will mentor Ph.D. students. The joint Ph.D. offered by the two institutes will clearly indicate the quality and academic standards of both institutes.

Director of IIIT Delhi, Professor Pankaj Jalote revealed that IIIT Delhi is one of the premier institutes in India that has been delivering quality research output in international standards. The dual/ joint Ph.D. course offered by University at Buffalo and IIIT Delhi will enable students to two in two great institutes. The joint programme will also provide an experience of different research cultures and traditions . The joint Ph.D. programme will further enhance the employability chances of the students, he explained.

Both institutes will support joint Ph.D. students financially through a scholarship, stipend or grant from either the institute or third party. The stipend offered by both institutes will commensurate with standards followed in each institution.
