IIIT Hyderabad to Organise Tech Education Programme for School Students

International Institute of International Technology (IIIT-Hyderabad) will conduct the Student Technology Education Programme (STEP) for school students from May 6-31, 2019. The last date to apply for the same is April 14. 

IIIT Hyderabad to Organise Tech Education Programme for School Students

International Institute of International Technology (IIIT-Hyderabad) will conduct the Student Technology Education Programme also known as STEP for school students from classes 7-10. The dates for the programme are May 06 - 31, 2019, and it will be conducted on an annual basis. The focus of the programme is on computational thinking, and it will help the students understand fundamental computational skills. The last date to apply for the programme is April 14, 2019, and students will get a certificate upon completion of the course,

This programme by IIIT-Hyderabad is one-of-its-kind and aims at encouraging the concept of computational thinking and extending it to the masses. Computational Thinking is seen as a fundamental mental skill which a child should learn about as early as possible. The curriculum of STEP has been designed in a manner which helps build logical thinking, analytical skills and problem-solving through hands-on-sessions as well as theoretical sessions.

Most of the sessions will be conducted by the IIIT-Hyderabad's faculty members as well as some visiting faculty. Admission will be open for any student who qualifies the age criteria and on a first-come-first-serve basis. The only requirement is interest in the field of analytical thinking and an interest in developing the thought process involved in it.

For classes 7-8, the course (Computational Thinking and Applications, CTA) will be the introductory course, and it deals with applications. For students of classes 9-10, Computational Thinking and Problem Solving (CTPS) will be exploratory and involve different aspects of how CT can help in problem-solving.
