The Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has formed a committee of five members, presided by the chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. The panel is established to shortlist the candidates for the new director of the varsity after Ashish Nanda resigned from the post last month due to personal reasons.
The other four members of the search committee are:
D Shivakumar, CEO of PepsiCo India
Pankaj Patel, CMD (Zydus Cadila)
Srikant M Datar, member of Harvard Business School faculty
Kiran Karnik, former head of NASSCOM
The search panel has been asked to send the names of three shortlisted candidates to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry. The Ministry will then appoint the director of the management institute. This procedure is expected to take at least a month.

Arvind Sahay
Ajay Pandey
According to a faculty of the university, the varsity will be inclined to the contender with strong international experience so that IIM-A is placed in a better position globally. The institute needs a person for the post of the director who can strengthen the administration and develop the infrastructure. Also, IIM-A expects the director to continue all the initiatives flagged off during the tenure of Prof. Ashish Nanda.

In this regard, the premier B-school has come up with advertisements and also referred to all its stakeholders including professors and alumni. The panel will soon begin the formal procedure by advertising for eligible candidates.
