IIM Bangalore Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) students recently organised a Digital Summit 2017 on Sunday, October 15, 2017, that had set the stage for discussions on present technologies which have the capacity to make the biggest impacts on businesses and people in the future. Renowned professionals took part in the panel discussions in the Summit which was themed around 'Future Unlocked'. The event began around 9:30 AM and continued until 6:30 PM.
Mr. Jayant Ghatge (Market Partner – Thoughtworks) delivered the keynote address. He indicated that the practice of copy-paste does not have any relevance. The existing concept in the contemporary world is ‘get disrupted or go out there and disrupt’. The key lies in experimentation, improving the speed and minimising the overall cost of experimentation, he added.

He further pointed that the people who make bold bets and are highly mission-driven do not have any specific job description - they are neither project managers nor programme managers - they are called choreographers. These people have experience with the different business types and a good understanding of sociology, technologies and humanities, he said.
Mr. Ghatge highlighted that the contemporary world is driven by technology because of which solutions are not available spontaneously. There is a need for good storytellers and not only choreographers, he added. The management students shall acquire exceptional storytelling skills to sell a dream as one cannot present a business case, which is backed by data, he added.
Digital Summit 2017 is a place where young managers, students, technology evangelists, academicians, practitioners and professionals mingle together to hold discussions on multiple aspects of digitalization.
