Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore has introduced a doctoral programme on entrepreneurship. IIM Bangalore is the first management institute in India to introduce the specialization in entrepreneurship. The main idea behind the course is to provide budding entrepreneurs with the right set of knowledge and skill set and to create a niche of educators specializing in this field.
Entrepreneurship in India is still an emerging field and is open to various unknown risks. Nonetheless, this field is a rising one and should not be overlooked. The programme involves intensive study of how to start new business ventures, market risk and an insight into different cultures and businesses.

K Kumar, Chairperson of NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at IIM-B stated that the time has come when it is essential to include entrepreneurship in school curriculum itself so that young entrepreneurs across the country get the right kind of support from the beginning to realize their dreams.
The doctoral programme on entrepreneurship at IIM-B will be of five-years duration. In this time period, the first two years are the foundation years, where the aspirants will undertake their coursework. IIM Bangalore is also known to work closely with renowned corporate houses of the country, which in itself will be an added benefit in terms of networking and exposure.

It also has its own Centre for entrepreneurship learning, which supports more than 15,000 entrepreneurs, 18 start-ups and over 100 ventures. This learning center helps aspirants to develop their business plans into reality with the help of professional guidance and monitoring sessions.
