A one of its kind 'Case Recording Lab' has been started by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore . The Lab was inaugurated by Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson of the institute and Prof G. Raghuram, Director of the institute on July 19, 2017.
Funding for the establishment of Case Recording Lab has been provided by Metal One Corporation India Limited and Mitsubishi Corporation India Limited. The laboratory has been equipped to facilitate recording and encapsulation of live case discussions.
The aim of this Lab is to create a digital repository that will help in enhancing the teaching and learning process at IIM Bangalore as it resonates the teaching ideologies of the institute. Videos, being the spine of digital education, are important for digital learners. The lab will help in facilitating education through this medium.
IIM Bangalore offers various courses through its IIMBx MOOCs and caters to the need of over five lakh global learners in different core as well as specialised management subjects. IIM-B has come far and has strengthened its technical prowess to produce world-class MOOCs.
Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw emphasised the importance of MOOCs and said that digital education is essential to cater to the needs of millions of students in India. She also added that the lab will help the institute in providing effective digital education with the help of technology.
Dr. Kiran also added that IIM-B is one of the key partners of the edX platform as the institute provides solutions for different types of problems. She also applauded the reach of the MOOCs platform.

Eisuke Shiozaki, MCI Chairman and Managing Director, said that the labs will be of great help in reaching out to students through digital education. He also added that IIMBx Case Recording Lab can be described as a part of the global IoT movement that will help the future managers and decision makers.
Director of the Institute, Prof. G. Raghuram, emphasised their strong ties with Japan in the management domain. He also thanked the organisations that provided funding for the Case Recording Lab.

The director also added that a Japan Centre will soon be started at IIM Bangalore. This centre will provide knowledge about the Japanese business history, technological innovations and business strategies, he added.
