The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has collaborated with the Indian School of Business (ISB) to organise a doctoral consortium for teachers who will be starting their career as faculty members at various B-schools in India .
Executive Director of the Centre for Learning and Management (CLMP), ISB, Arun Pereira, talked about the collaboration and said that the ISB – IIM Bangalore Consortium will be an example of how collaboration among different Indian B Schools can raise the standard of business education in India.
Pereira added that through such collaborations, Indian B-schools can grow in quality and global stature. Such collaborations will help in getting good faculty and implementing global teaching standards is the key to break through global rankings, he added.
The participants of the consortium were offered training regarding classroom management and effective teaching methodology. Participants were also encouraged to take up compelling learning experience for students.
Some of the aspects that were focused on were student-centric methods, adapting changing role of technology in classroom teaching, case-discussions and student learning styles.

Professors from reputed business schools including ISB, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode participated in the consortium.
Dean of Academic Programmes at IIM Bangalore, Sourav Mukherji, said that several doctoral consortia have been organized in the past to emphasize the importance of research skills but this consortium was unique as it stressed the importance of quality teaching.

Mukherji added that getting good teachers to impart management education is an important national agenda as teaching lays the foundation for producing skilled business and management graduates.
