It seems like more women are keen on taking up leadership roles. Today, most of the women professionals are taking up various roles in the management world. The response to IIM Bangalore’s executive postgraduate programme reveals that the perception is right. This year, IIM Bangalore witnessed a high number of women enrolling for the management programme.
This year, out of 73 students enrolled for the management programme, 30% are women. Last year, 14% women enrolled in this programme, and the number doubled this year. According to the statistics, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore has a positive gender ratio. The institute is expecting that the numbers will increase in the coming years.

One of the participants of the course, Priyanka Vats expressed that women do not want comfortable lives. Recalling her experiences, she mentioned that she was given smaller roles in her company when she was a pregnant. Her career growth suffered in that situation. Therefore, women must work towards achieving leadership positions, and bring change in the current scenario, she added.
Besides Priyanka, 21 other women had four to five years of work experience. They came to IIM Bangalore to pursue one-year PG course. Most of these women belong to the age group of the late 20s and 30s. They hailed from diverse backgrounds.

Parul Agarwal who has vast experience of seven years in media took up management programme at IIM Bangalore to have a more structured approach to business. She was of the opinion that companies or organisations should have more women at senior positions.
Almost all the women who enrolled for management programme at IIM Bangalore had their personal experience to share. Some of them are balancing the time to look after their children, completing assignments and attending classes.
The stories of these women are a source of inspiration to upcoming women professionals in the field of management.
