Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore or IIMB is at the third spot as per MOOCLab’s Business School Rankings 2020 for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). MOOCLab’s Business School Rankings 2020 judge schools on five key areas : provision of credit-granting credentials, learning pathways, MOOC-based degrees and school’s quality of teaching. These five indicators help in measuring a school’s performance across the number of MOOCs .

As per the 2020 edition of the rankings, 16 B schools across the world have been surveyed and they offer courses on leading MOOC platforms such as edX, Coursera and FutureLearn. This is also the first-ever business school ranking which has been done basis MOOC’s provision. IIM Bangalore has left HEC Paris and Wharton School of the University of Pennysylvania behind. As far as the teaching quality ranking is concerned, MOOCLab got the ranking scores from the Financial Times Executive Education open-enrolment 2019 Teaching Rankings.

The list has ESSEC Business School (France), IE Business School (Spain), INSEAD (France), Insper (Brazil), London Business School (England), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), among other business schools globally. There are 43 open online courses on the edX platform along with professional certificate and 2 Micromasters programs by IIM Bangalore.
Prof P.D. Jose, Chair at IIMB Digital Learning and Faculty from IIMB Strategy area said their MOOC initiative will make them different from other management schools in India and will give IIMB an edge globally. IIMB’s online presence is not just restricted to edX. IIMB courses are also there on SWAYAM, which is the Indian MOOC platform created by the Ministry of Human Resources Development. These were not a part of the survey though."
