Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) may adopt a preventive vigilance tool developed by a faculty of Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) to help check the level of corruption in any organization. CVC demanded a detailed technical presentation of Corruption Vulnerability Index later this year. This is the first time such an organizational level preventive tool is being developed.
This tool was made by J Vinayan, fellow programme in management (FPM) scholar of IIM Indore. A thesis on 'Corruption Vulnerability of Organizations' by central vigilance commissioner K V Chowdary helped Vinayan to develop this tool.
"The doctoral thesis involved the development of an organizational level tool which can predict corruption vulnerability in organizations. CVI can be used to grade organizations and compare them with each other in similar manner as Corruption Perception Index of Amnesty International or Control of Corruption Index of World Bank ," said Vinayan.
Vinayan is pursuing thesis under the guidance of Professor Ranjeet Nambudiri, Professor Sushanta K Mishra and Professor Nobin Thomas of IIM Indore with additional guidance from Professor K Praveen Parboteeah, Director, College of Business and Economics, University of Wisconsin-White Water, WI, USA.
Pursuing doctoral from IIM-I since 2013, Vinayan made a presentation before the vigilance officers following which officers sought for a technical presentation of the tool.
