Niti Ayog and the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode have collaborated recently. A Statement of Interest was signed between the two organisations with a focus on strategic and technical collaboration in the field of monitoring and evaluation environment in India. According to the press release, a special focus is to be put in terms of data monitoring. The two signatories of the said document were Professor Debasis Chatterjee( Director - IIM-K ) and Dr. Sekhar Bonu ( Director General) Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office.
IIM-K partnered with DMEO to “establish a framework for cooperative institutional relations to encourage cooperation in technical development, support appropriate capacity building and joint studies in the field of monitoring government policies, programs through econometric evaluation". The collaboration is being seen as a capacity enhancement partnership that aims to strengthen and empower the process through regular programs, seminars, and workshops conducted by IIM K.
The IIM-K Director connected the collaboration to the three classical Indian thoughts - Satyam, Nityam, and Purnam. The collaboration is supposed to bring in transparency in policy implementation or Satyam, continuous and sustainable form of development or Nityam, and finally, wholeness or completeness of policy implementation which is effective execution or Purnam.

On the other hand, the Director-General of DMEO observed that in this fast-paced forever changing, complex, digitalised society, it is crucial to monitor and evaluate policies efficiently. Thus increasing the need for such strategic partnership with India’s premier knowledge institutions to further collaborate on research aspects to increase the effectiveness of digital governance.
