IIM Kozhikode hosted the 12th edition of the Indian Management Conclave (IMC) on December 9 and 10, 2022. The IIM Directors and Ramnath Kovind, the former President of India attended the event. A total of 100+ B-School leaders, CXO’s of Education companies, Industry leaders, and Senior Academicians were presented there. At the IMC Conference, the awards for excellence in Management were given to the 4 Indian b-schools. Mr Shyam Srinivasan, CEO of Federal Bank, Mr Suresh Narayanan, Chairman, and MD Nestle were addressed as the delegates at the conclave.
The award had two themes such as measuring academic learning- the framework & implementation and measuring corporate readiness- approach and results. In the first theme at IMC, TAMPI Manipal won the gold medal whereas the solve medal was won by the Hindustan Institute of Management Sciences School of Management. Post that in the second theme, Jagdish Sheth School of Management and Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) won the gold and silver medal respectively.
Ramnath Kovind addressed the expectations from the B-Schools, which are changing significantly. The faculty should not only focus on traditional teaching in the classroom. Instead, they should be more explorers, enablers, guides, and mentors. It is high time to focus on the producing entrepreneurs as well as on the socially responsible business leaders since the nation needs more entrepreneurs. B-schools now focus more on the nurturing of Entrepreneurs, who are job creators instead of job seekers. In this context, Mr. Debashish Chatterjee, the director of IIM Kozhikode added that their main focus has been updated. The Institute is not only targeting to meet the MBA outcomes but also to redefine the expectations of the MBAs. More specifically, the B-schools of India should be more focused on corporate readiness and produce leaders, who are innovators, problem solvers, and job creators.
