Students of IIM Nagpur participated in the Transform Maharashtra initiative started by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to support inclusive governance. The state-based competition, Transform Maharashtra, invited solutions for socio-economic challenges from students of various state colleges.
The Maharashtra Government seeks innovative solutions for problems like drought, corruption, digital divide, urban poverty, etc. The aim of the initiative is crowdsourcing the innovative solutions as well as encourage active participation of youth in policy planning.
Close to 15,000 students participated from all over the state and 2500 solutions were submitted. Six teams from IIM Nagpur participated in the competition and submitted their solutions.
Following are the themes on which solutions were provided:
- Moulding the Future: Reforming Rural Education
- By the People: Citizen Engagement in Governance
- Balancing the Scales: Expediting Justice through Technology
Subject matter experts had picked the best solutions from the entire pool and over 6 lakh votes were cast for different schemes. The results for Transform Maharashtra competition were declared in early April 2017.

IIM Nagpur’s team 'Enlightened Minds' secured the third place in Judges' Choice category for the solution submitted for 'Balancing the scales: Expediting justice through technology'. The solution included ideas like the implementation of ERP and establishing an Expert System.
Winners of the competition were given an opportunity to represent their solutions in front of the Chief Minister on Maharashtra Day, May 1, 2017. The teams were also given their prizes.
The event also comprised a brainstorming session with the CM, opinion makers, subject matter experts, business intellects and 6000 college students. The ideas will be implemented for 'Maharashtra Vision 2025'.

Other students were also given the opportunity to represent their solutions. The event was also attended by Major General Anuj Mathur; CEO of Olacabs, Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal and other prominent businessmen.
