IIM Sambalpur Hosts “Ethos’20”

Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur (IIM-S) organised the second edition of its annual fest, 'Ethos'20'. The event is based on the theme of “Back to 90’s”.

IIM Sambalpur Hosts 2nd Edition of Cultural Fest “Ethos’20”

Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur (IIM-S) , one of the most dynamic and promising institutes in management commenced the second edition of its sports, business and cultural fest. The “Ethos’20” was inaugurated by the Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur Guest of Honour, Dr Sukhamaya Swain, Axis Bank Ltd and Chief Guest, Shri RK Gupta, CEO (Cluster Head) Hindalco. The event is based on the theme of “Back to 90’s” and is expected to see active participation of around 8200 students from top B-Schools in the country including IIM Vishakhapatnam , NIT Rourkela , IIT Dhanbad and IIM Ranchi . Around 9000 students are expected to attend the event from 1st February to 3rd February. IIM Sambalpur students have planned plenty of exciting events for their flagship event over the course of three days, and will also highlight their diverse skills alongside some of the finest talents from across the world.

Director, Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal said that the fests are important for the student’s overall learning. They inspire a competitive spirit within students while strengthening them to a general cause. It provides them with an indispensable platform where they can showcase their skills and talent along with expressing their creativity. Fests also provide a much-needed break from their studies so that they can get time for new ideas and refreshing their mind.

Ethos'20 will showcase a range of management events. All the clubs of IIM Sambalpur are organising their flagships events in Ethos’20. The highlights of the event are E-Stratega, conducted by Consiglio, the Consulting Club and Brandbaazi, conducted by Emporia, the Marketing Club. Almost 1300 students registered for each of these events. The ongoing second rounds of these competitions, and many more, consist mainly of case study analysis and presentations that test the student's business skills and bring out in-house management enthusiasts. Some of the other management events are Enigmatic organised by the Operations club, SAMviksha and R squared by the HR Club, Sigmato, unRavel by the IT and data analytics club, Hridaya and Equinotch, by Bears N Bulls, the Finance club, Sigmato. Besides this Hurrikeynes and Pitch-Up are also expected to see participation from many students.

The sports club of the college is also conducting some events namely Burning Feathers for badminton, Score & Roar for football, Slam Dunk for basketball and many others. Cyberspark, the esports club of Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur is conducting Mindbusters which will be an e-gaming event where the contestants will compete against each other in popular e-games such as Counter-Strike and PUBG. Kalakriti, the cultural committee of IIM Sambalpur is also taking part in Ethos’20 by a series of gala events which will focus on entertaining students. Ramp Burn, Fashion Show and I-Factor are the main highlights of the cultural section where the contestants will get a chance to highlight their X-Factor in front of others. The electronic music duo Progressive Brothers will perform on Feb 3rd and popular Hindi rock band Antariksh will perform on Feb 2nd.

Convenor of Ethos’20, Abhishek Yadav has said that after the success of the inaugural edition of the event which was conducted last year, Ethos’20 is expected to get more success. All the students of IIM Sambalpur have worked very hard to plan the events. Though rivalry is at its peak during the three of the event, all the participants enjoy and appreciate Ethos'20 as it is indeed an exceptional experience. With the IIM, Sambalpur campus lit and students engaged in one event or another, Ethos makes Sambalpur lively, busy, and moving. In additon to this, Ethos ' 20 is also working towards its Green Initiative, namely' Green Ethos,' which promotes students on a national platform so that they can explore their creativity and come up with innovative ideas for handling the major challenges facing the industry.
