The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong , which receives support from Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will help in the implementation and understanding of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) , particularly in the North East region of India. The APJ Abdul Kalam Study Centre of IIM Shillong will be responsible for the task of aiding with the implementation and undertaking a study on the new policy.
Dr Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State of DoNER, made this announcement in New Delhi after a meeting with IIM Shillong management. Shri Shishir Kumar Bajoria, Chairman, and Atul Chandrakant Kulkarni, Member of the Board of Governors, were among the team representing IIM Shillong at the meeting.

Dr Jitendra Singh hailed the NEP as the biggest reform in India since Independence. He said that the policy gives students room to decide their options and added that the North-Eastern region is facing the challenge of mass exodus due to the unavailability of higher education streams preferred by the student.
Further, Dr Singh suggested that the APJ Abdul Kalam Study Centre can suggest the ways to include the state-run colleges in providing the courses initiated by the Centre Government. He also informed that the APJ Abdul Kalan Study Centre will carry out a study to understand the best way to introduce the different subjects available in central colleges to the students of North East region.
