Indian Institute of Mass Communication or IIMC has come up with a new code of conduct for students that lays special emphasis on rules while using social media. The new code of conduct features the disciplinary policies for students. They highlight the expectations of IIMC in terms of behaviour and academics. According to IIMC, social media plays a prominent role in knowledge sharing and gaining. Therefore, IIMC is now encouraging students to make use of public forums in the right way.
IIMC has further directed the students to maintain highest ethical integrity and standards while posting any material on personal social media accounts. IIMC was of the opinion that any post made personally on social media is prone to be public as that is the nature of social media.

At the time of a few instances, derogatory posts on social media have created disturbances and ruckus in various educational institutes. Therefore, IIMC has set certain guidelines to regulate such instances which will restrict students to use social media in a more acceptable and apt way. Social media is a platform where students connect with each other by sharing and gaining knowledge.

IIMC has further directed the students to get a clear understanding of policies that comprise of sexual harassment. Further, for regulating the instances of sexual harassment against female students on the campus, IIMC has been maintaining a separate ‘Internal Complaints Committee’.
The admission process at IIMC has commenced recently and the admissions under first merit list concluded on July 20, 2017.
