For the first time in the history of 100 years, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is going to bring all the students' unions from various universities together to discuss on varied topics which include, sustainable development, startups, entrepreneurship, gender equality and others. It is a first of its kind initiative that is being organised by IISc.

It is an 'All India Students Representative' conference and has been title as 'Jagruti'. The conference is being organised by IISc Students' Council and Think India Forum. The conference is all set to begin on January 12, 2017. Naveen Ramu, President of IISc Students' Council, revealed that the conference would witness discussions majorly on four board themes. Additionally, it was clarified that the conference is not being organised to discuss the problems of students, rather it is being conducted to unite the students and discuss various issues and come up with ideas.

Jagruti 2017 will provide a platform to student representatives in order to get an idea and spread awareness on the role and contribution that needs to be made in the fields of science and technology, agriculture, sustainable development of the nation, and sports and culture. The primary focus of the programme is to make young India more vibrant and visible at the global level.
The conference also provides an opportunity to build a professional network among students, government, industry and academicians and the aim is to evolve a student support network across various institutes in India.
The role of students in the development of science and technology will be the highlight of Jagruti 2017. Awareness about environmental problems and protection, sustainable development and productive agriculture activities are some of the other issues that will be discussed at the conference.
