In a letter to the Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank", The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has requested him to establish an Indian Institute of Science and Research in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
In his request, the UP Chief Minister has stated the benefits of the Indian Institute of Science and Research in India. He stated that IISER has been able to promote education as well as research work in the field of science. He also added that the education that the students of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research have the opportunity to pursue inter-disciplinary education. He also added that for this reason and for the purpose of advancing the reach as well as the availability of this opportunity, the Ministry of Human Resources Development has set up a total of seven such Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research across India.

In his appeal for the establishment of an Indian Institution of Science Education and Research in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath stated several reasons for the establishment of IISER in the U.P. One of the reasons that he mentions in the letter is that the state of Uttar Pradesh house the largest portion of the Indian population with 23 crore people living in the state. He added that the majority of this portion consists of young people who are looking for education and employment opportunities.

In the letter to Ramesh Pokhriya, Adityanath states that the formation of an Indian Institute of Science Education and Research will help in securing the chances and opportunities in the education as well as the future employment of the youth living in Uttar Pradesh.
