Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) located in China and Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 4, 2017, to enhance academic cooperation between the two institutes. In 2016, an MOU was signed between School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of IIT Bhubaneswar and Engineering Centre for Materials Manufacturing of SJTU. President of India Pranab Mukherjee signed the MoU on May 26, 2016, during his visit to China last year.

The MoU that has been signed between two institutes on April 4, 2017, is a follow-up to the previous agreement. A total number of four academicians from Shanghai Jiao Tong University visited Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar during April 4 to April 7, 2017. The delegates took part in a joint workshop on the theme ‘Current Trends in Solidification Processing and Technology’.

The delegates discussed the recent developments in the area of solidification science and processing as well as challenges faced by the community in the 21 st century. Various researchers attended the workshop from reputed academic institutions across the country. On this occasion, IIT Bhubaneswar signed MoU with SJTU to enhance the academic cooperation.
Through this MoU, IIT Bhubaneswar and Shanghai Jiao Tong University will focus on major activities that are being taken at School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The main objective is to achieve greater heights in research and teaching. For this purpose, both institutes signed an MoU to strengthen the academic collaboration.
