IIT Bombay this year also remained the hot destination for new students , as 67 students out of 100 top rankers opted Powai campus to pursue their B.Tech course when Joint Seat Allocation Authority released results of the first round of allotment of seats into the centrally-aided technological colleges, IITs, NITs. While last year first 65 students opted IIT Bombay.

IIT Bombay is followed by
IIT Delhi
with 28 students and five students chose IIT Madras. Ironically
IIT Kanpur
did not get any toppers from the top 100 ranks which usually get two to three students every year.
Out of these top 100, 37 belonged to the IIT-Bombay zone and the choice of Bombay was , therefore, naturally 33,500 students have applied for courses in IIT-Kharagpur and Madras for admissions this year. The students who applied for every seat at IIT-Delhi and IIT-Bombay were 190 and 161.
From the top 500 new IITs like - IIT-Hyderabad and Gandhinagar got two and one students each respectively. Computer Science Engineering was among the most popular choices at IIT-B and IIT-D.
Admissions to the electrical engineering programme in IIT-B opened at 9th rank and closed at 240. CSE was among the most popular choices at IIT-B and IIT-D. CSE is followed by electrical, mechanical and engineering physics.
CSE, mechanical and civil engineering, electrical are the most popular among all IITs. Since these days students also see the statistics of the last year and there is hardly any major change in the admission trends.
