Due to the lockdown running in the country, IIT Bombay has decided to scrap the spring semester and the final exams for the year 2019-20. The spring semester for IIT Bombay was scheduled to be conducted from June 1 to July 30. As per the meeting conducted among the professionals of IIT Bombay, it was stated that the return of students to the campus for final year exam and spring semester is highly unlikely considering the situation in Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the institute has also rescheduled the summer vacation from April 1 to May 30, 2020.

A committee has been formed by IIT Bombay with a chairperson to look and work into the matter. It was also considered that even after the returning of the students from different parts of the country, upgrading hostels and other facilities can be a big challenge and the officials should be prepared for any sudden happenings. The decision of scrapping the exams was taken in lieu of not disturbing the academic calendar and causing inconvenience to the final year students.

The grading of the students will be completed until June 30, 2020. The grading will be based on the score of the students in the mid-semester exams. There might be an additional evaluation organised online by the evaluators. The institute will also come up with a likewise opportunity to help the students who may have missed their mid-semester exams.
