Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar has announced admissions to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme 2 nd semester in different fields for the academic session 2016. The admissions are open in the following areas:-
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Language & Literature
- Earth Sciences
- Political Science
- Cognitive Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Philosophy
- Electrical Engineering
- Sociology
- Psychology
- History
Eligibility:-
- The candidates must possess a Postgraduate degree in Basic Science with GATE/NET qualification
- The candidates who have a graduate degree in professional courses like B.E/ B.Tech along with GATE/NET qualification can also apply for the programme
- The candidates who have qualified a postgraduate degree or professional courses are also eligible
- The candidates who have qualification mentioned above with two years of research experience will be eligible for Rs. 28,000 of financial support
Application Procedure:-
- Online applications are open for the candidates to apply for any of the specialisations
- There is no application fee
- The candidates need not send the hard copies of the application forms to the institute
- The candidates who are applying for more than one discipline have to submit separate application forms for each discipline
- After filling the application, take the printout of the form
- The candidates need to carry the application form and required documents at the time of interview

Important Dates:-
- The candidates have to submit the application form on or before October 2, 2016
- The names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on October 17, 2016
- The written test and interview will take place from November 4 to 7, 2016

- The shortlisted candidates need to attend a written test and interview
- The admission will be granted based on the performance in written test and interview
