The placements at Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) have witnessed a giant surge in the number of offers made to M.Tech students. The placement process at the premier institute commenced two months ago. There has been a 155% increase in the number of offers extended to M.Tech students. While M.Tech students are happy about the placements this year, B.Tech students are waiting for their offers to exceed the previous placements best.
Giving details on the placements, the officials of IIT Gandhinagar informed that a total number of 207 students from M.Tech, M.A, B.Tech and B.Sc courses have registered for the placements this year. Out of them, 97 are B.Tech students, who are expecting a surge in highest salary packages by January 2018. Last year, the highest pay offered to B.Tech students was Rs. 15.5 lakh per annum. The M.Tech students have registered massive hike in the salary packages.

Executive Officer of Career Development Services at IIT Gandhinagar revealed that the average package offered this year stood at Rs. 7.7 lakh per annum. Placement offers to M.Tech and other PG students turned out to be a major highlight this year at IIT Gandhinagar. On the other hand, the undergraduate placements at the premier institute are witnessing consistent growth and have remained over 85% for the past two years.

Apart from 155% rise in the number of offers, the average package offered to M.Tech students has risen by 39.76 percent. Interestingly, the highest salary offered to PG students at IIT Gandhinagar has increased by 166.50 percent against the previous year.
The placement season at IIT Gandhinagar will conclude in February 2018. So far, 27 companies hired students for different roles.
