Under the mentorship of IIT Bombay , two new IIT’s will start their classes from August 1.
On July 30th, IIT Goa will be inaugurated by Union minister for Human Resource Development. IIT Dharwad will be inaugurated on July 31.
College classes will commence from August 1.
Both the institutes will be under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. Also the institutes will be sharing faculty with IIT Bombay .
According to Devang Khakhar, Director of IIT-B, recruitment process will soon start at IIT B. Till the time, the directors of the two institutes are not decided, IIT-B will run them. And as soon as the new directors take their places, administration will also be handed to them.
Currently, 30 students have already taken admission in the Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering streams at IIT Goa. At IIT Dharwad, 40 students have taken admission to each of the three streams.

The institutes have not been allocated with proper places to set up the campus and therefore till the time place for campus is decided, the classes for the new academic session will be conducted in other colleges.
The classes for IIT Goa will be conducted at Goa Engineering College and classes for IIT Dharwad will be conducted at Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI).
It has been estimated that it will take about 4 years for a 560-acre IIT Dharwad campus and a 300-acre IIT Goa campus to be completed.
