It was no less than a pleasant surprise to the Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Goa when it received around 1,200 applications after it released the notification looking for assistants of Teachers in research works. The applications were received in the web portal of IIT Goa where the notification was released.
The figure jumped to 1,200 from 30 that was calculated at the end of January 2019.
The assistants will be appointed from various college students across India and especially from Goa who are studying their bachelors currently. The applicants will be appointed in 150 vacant assistant positions.
B. K. Mishra, the director of Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Goa informed that the number of students who applied for the project is much higher than the number in the previous year. The selected students will have to assist the professors in lab researches as well as in field projects. The list of selected students is likely to be published in the current month. He also said that it will be a six to eight months internships which will begin from mid-May 2019.
The newly built IIT Goa that was established in 2016 has managed to become popular with the students in terms of the research projects conducted by the highly trained faculty of the institute inside Goa. It has been also conducting outreach programs.
The institute opens its internship programs for cross specialisation students by not limiting it only to the science students to give students a lucrative internship option without hampering their areas of studies.

Mishra also informed further that the students are free to choose their areas of assistance by reading about the faculties and their specialisations. The most importance is given to the third year students of colleges. However, the chemistry field did not receive much popularity among the students of the previous year but surprisingly, a lot of chemistry research related assistance applications have been received this year.
