Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Naval Academy (INA) – Ezhimala (Kerala) for academic and research collaboration. Exchange of faculty members, as well as, student exchange programmes are the part of this collaboration. IIT Guwahati and INA will take up research activities in the areas of mutual interest.
As a part of this prominent collaboration, student exchange programme can be facilitated between the two institutions. INA offers B.Tech degrees to officer-cadets and the collaboration will enable INA to send its students to IIT Guwahati for an entire semester. Similarly, INA officer-cadets pursuing B.Tech course can opt for internships under the guidance of IIT Guwahati faculty members. Through the internship programme, INA officer-cadets can hone their practical skills.

Director of IIT Guwahati, Mr. Gautam Biswas highlighted that the outstanding collaboration between the premier technical institute and INA would open up a new horizon for the northeast students. The joint research projects in the mutual areas of interest will enhance expertise in specialised areas. In all, IIT Guwahati is delighted and proud to collaborate with INA Ezhimala, he expressed.

The MoU will facilitate the students of IIT Guwahati to associate with INA through internship programmes. Internships at INA will help the students of IIT Guwahati to get an in-depth understanding of practical challenges faced by INA. In addition, IITians will learn about the latest technology, machinery and equipment of INA. The collaboration will also help students to learn about the rich culture, glorious history and heritage of INA.
Further, INA officer-cadets will get a chance to learn about the ethnicities and cultures of different communities of North East India .
