IIT Guwahati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) USA to offer UG and PG courses in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. As a part of this MoU, IIT Guwahati will set up the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence on its campus. The MoU was signed virtually by IIT Guwahati Director, TG Sitharam and Rahul Mehta, CEO of Mehta Family Foundation, USA.
The admission to B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Data Science will be offered from the academic session 2021-22. Interested candidates will need to clear JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced to secure admission. After clearing JEE Advanced, the candidates will need to participate in the JoSAA counselling process , and select IIT Guwahati and B.Tech Data Science & Artificial Intelligence course as an option for admission. The admission will be granted on the basis of candidate’s rank.

As per the MoU signed, MFF USA will provide the support for the development of School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, its infrastructure and programmes. Through this MoU, the programmes will be offered to visiting students and faculty between US institutions and IIT Guwahati.
Apart from the UG programme, IIT Guwahati will also offer PG course in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. Domestic and international students can seek admission in the respective programmes. The School of Data Science & AI will also take up interdisciplinary research projects to solve problems that will benefit the society.
