The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati has bagged one of the most powerful supercomputers in the country. The Director of the institute, Mr. Gautam Biswas said that the supercomputer will have all the top most specifications in the entire North Eastern, Eastern and Southern regions.

He mentioned that the Institute received supercomputer about a month ago and the installation process is underway. The final phase of installation has been going on and it will be opened once the HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar inaugurates it.

The official date for the inauguration of supercomputer hasn't been fixed yet. According to the sources, the computer will be inaugurated within this year.

The institute developed the supercomputer in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune. It has been named as Param Ishaan by the two organisations. A sum of Rs.10 Crore was spent to build the supercomputer.
