Looking at the problems faced by the students during the placements, the gap between the skills required by the recruiters and the skills that graduates possessed, 4 students of IIT-Kanpur started ‘Pariksha’ to provide preparation assistance for placement tests and interviews.
Rahul Ranjan, Utkarsh Bagri, Deepak Choudhary and Saket Diwakar were in their third year at IIT Kanpur in 2013, when they started with the base of Pariksha. Having a keen business mind and skills to build online campus communities, they set up their base at IIT Kanpur and started helping students to prepare for JEE .
It was after their interaction with some of their seniors that they realized how difficult it was for students to clear placement tests and interviews in order to get jobs. Therefore, they collaborated with the placement cell of IIT Kanpur and launched the initial version of Pariksha.
The placement learning modules launched by the basic version of Pariksha received an overwhelming response from the senior students. Soon enough, the founders skipped their own placements and started working full time to make Pariksha a bigger success.
By the time they completed their graduation they had expanded their base to eight IITs in 2015. Further, they tied up with other IITs, NITs, BITS and JNTU-A. Pariksha is providing services to more than 270 colleges as of 2017.

Rahul Ranjan talked about the services provided by Pariksha and said that they provide technological infrastructure to coaching institutes and help job seekers to improve their skills and improve their weaknesses. They sign MoUs with colleges and provide placement prep modules to final year students.
Due to lack of employment opportunities in tier-II and tier-III cities, the number of students preparing for placements in such cities is more than in tier-I cities, Ranjan added.
Pariksha provides preparation assistance to students in return for a monthly subscription fee. Apart from placement exam assistance and skill enhancing sessions, it also provides assistance to clear exams like GATE and GMAT .
