IIT Kanpur to Get Technology Innovation Hub from DST

IIT Kanpur will soon get a Technology Innovation Hub from Department of Science and Technology (DST). The total project is spread over five years, and the estimated funding for the same is more than Rs. 120 crores. The hub will be a one-stop destination for all the information pertaining to cybersecurity and its applications. The Technology Innovation Hub that will come up at IIT Kanpur will be a source of fundamental/ basic knowledge and these technologies are required to make India ready for the next generation technological challenges.

The Technology Innovation Hub of DST will come up/ built at the existing Centre for Cyber Security of Critical Infrastructure of IIT Kanpur. The hub will address the security issues spread across nine absorption layers. The major focus of the hub will be on three verticals, i.e., Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Security, Automotive and Critical Infrastructure. In all, Technology Innovation Hub’s major focus area will be R & D (Research and Development).

For this purpose, IIT Kanpur will collaborate with SEALS Lab located at IIT Kharagpur, IISc Cyber Security Groups, AKTU Lucknow and IIIT Allahabad. These institutes will serve as the initial academic partners/ national academic partners for Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Kanpur. The premier institute is also collaborating with popular international universities for this purpose.

Cyber Security is one of the fields where the scope for research is high. The innovation hub for this purpose at IIT Kanpur will meet the requirements of the industry.
