IIT Kharagpur Collaborates with University of Melbourne for Joint Study Programme

  • IIT KGP and the University of Melbourne will run a full-time Dual Doctoral Programme (DDP).
  • The collaborative programme will help in grooming selected group of doctoral students from both India and Australia.
IIT Kharagpur Collaborates with University of Melbourne for Joint Study Programme

IIT Kharagpur has collaborated with the Universities of Melbourne and Newcastle in Australia for joint study courses . As per the IIT KGP statement, the institute will introduce full-time Dual Doctoral Programme (DDP) in collaboration with the University of Melbourne.

Whereas the tie-up between IIT KGP and the University of Newcastle will focus on joint research projects, joint supervision of masters and doctoral students and many other sharing initiatives. IIT KGP already has tie-ups with Curtin and Wollongong Universities for Dual Doctoral Degree Programmes.

Baidurya Bhattacharya, IIT KGP Dean of International Relations said that the institute is delighted about their partnership with the top-ranked Australian University (University of Melbourne). According to him, this initiative will help in grooming selected group of doctoral students from both India and Australia. Apart from the doctoral programs and projects, they will jointly focus on research problems and conduct various seminars, workshops, training programmes etc.

He further added that an advanced country like Australia and a premier technological institute like IIT Kharagpur has a lot to offer to the growing cities in India. They are also developing a model for Indian smart cities. Such collaborations will provide students with an opportunity to pursue research in leading Australian universities and broaden their horizon. Students from both the countries will also get an opportunity to experience cultural diversity.
