Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL) – part of the prestigious IIT Kharagpur – has started an initiative to attract foreign students and professionals for law education provided in India.
Dean of RGSOIPL, Professor Khushal Vibhute informed that apart from the regular abroad trips made by law scholars, the college is also going to encourage India-bound student traffic.
Vibhute also informed that they will be attracting foreign students to take the government’s initiative of internationalizing the IITs forward.
RGSOIPL provides law education with specialization in IP. This law school is the first of its kind in India that functions within an IIT. RGSOIPL forms the connection between science, management, law and technology.

Flagship programme offered by the law school include Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in Intellectual Property Law. This is a 3-year long residential programme comprising 6 semesters and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Other fields of law education provided by the institute are Corporate Laws, Criminal Laws, Taxation, International Law, Competition Law and Constitutional Law.
RGSOIPL is the only Indian law school functioning within the IIT System that has joined hands with reputed international institutions for research and exchange programmes. This is one of the reasons why RGSOIPL has been ranked amongst the top law institutes in India.

George Washington University Law School is the institute that RGSOIPL has tied up with to offer a spring semester programme to provide more exposure to the students.
