IIT Madras Joins Hands with Applied Materials India for Artificial Intelligence Research

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has joined hands with Applied Materials India to begin new research programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences and Machine Learning.

According to Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT Madras, the agreement between IIT Madras and Applied Materials India is a great opportunity for students to gain knowledge and experience in the upcoming field. The agreement is not only expected to bring expertise from the academic point of view but will also encourage the industry to provide candidates with unique training opportunities.

The institute strives to stay ahead of developments in technology and welcomes this great opportunity to add momentum to Artificial Intelligence. These new learning opportunities will lead to new innovations in the field.

The main research areas will include machine learning methods, images for technology, how to use representational neural networks and advanced image analysis. It has been more than a decade that IIT Madras and Applied Materials India have been working together towards the advance semiconductor ecosystem across the country.

Srinivas Satya, Country President and Managing Director of Applied Materials India mentioned that this agreement will help them take AI to the next level. This will provide the students with an insight regarding the dynamics of Artificial Intelligence. AI aims to introduce new inputs into the machines so that they can perform human life tasks with the help of computers to train and accomplish various tasks and process data and recognizing patterns.
