Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has signed Memorandum of Understanding to promote green startups all over the country. This joint venture of CII & IIT-M will be supporting the call to use cleantech ideas while working towards an objective. Academics and Industries and have to work hand in hand to develop eco-friendly business models.
The MoU was signed on August 31, 2019, at the Gopalkrishnan Deshpande Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GDC), Hyderabad, to mark the 15th anniversary of CII- Sohrabji Green Business Centre or CII Godrej GBC. GDC is the innovation centre created & funded by IIT-M alumni to help STEM researchers all over the country in their work.
Mr Jamshyd Godrej, Chairperson of CII commented that the climate changes faced by the world today are intense and there is a lot to be done to save the environment.

IIT-M CII Collaboration Objective
Have a look at the objectives of the CII and IIT-M tie-up:
- Firstly, the joint venture is going to help startups in GDC programme from all over the country to discuss ideas leading to the Cleantech space. Members of established business houses will be participating in these discussions to ensure if ideas can actually be implemented or not.
- The leaders of the cleantech industry will be guiding the GDC startup teams in building their prototypes and implementing them.
- The main idea of this venture is to connect well-settled industrialists and young entrepreneurs to develop cleantech technologies for tomorrow.

With all the climatic changes we are facing in the world today, the need of the hour is to develop industrial models that are ecologically superior but also economical. CII and IIt-M venture will uplift the green startups in developing the industries of the future.
