IIT Madras Tops NIRF 2022 Engineering Rankings: 7th Year in a Row

NIRF Engineering Rankings 2022: Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister of India, took the stage to announce the seventh edition of NIRF Rankings on July 15, 2022. Following its record of the past 6 years, or ever since the launch of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has bagged the first spot for NIRF 2022 Rankings as well.

Over the past seven years, while maintaining its top spot, the NIRF Quality Check Score of IIT Madras has seen a steady and commendable rise. While IIT Madras began at 89.42 in 2016, and dipped in 2017 to 87.92, the same has steadily risen since then to 90.93 in 2021. However, the score for IIT Madras has slightly slipped in 2022 to 90.04.

Apart from the engineering category, IIT Madras also holds top spots in other categories. As per NIRF Rankings 2022, IIT Madras also stands as the topmost college in India across all categories while also acquiring the second position in Research Category, just after the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru.

For the aspirants of IIT Madras, the institute accepts admissions through the JEE Advanced examination and based on the rank of the student, the seat in IIT Madras is allocated through the Joint Entrance Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
