IIT Roorkee and Pratham Education Foundation , a non-profit organization, have collaborated to raise funds to train unemployed individuals. IIT Roorkee Cognizance, an annual technical festival of the prestigious institute will prepare a platform to help Pratham run a fund-raising campaign throughout India.
The funds raised by the campaign will be utilized to run a skill-based training programme . Under the programme, Pratham will take 40 unemployed candidates under its guidance and will help them get jobs.
So far the campaign launched by IIT Roorkee and Pratham Education Foundation has raised Rs. 29,604. The organization informed that the cost of assisting one student and vocational skill training will be Rs. 2,500. The aim of IIT Roorkee Cognizance team is to raise Rs. 1 lakh in order to offer help to a minimum of 40 people.

In an official statement released by the team, they added that these funds will help the unemployed candidates to stand confidently in the job market. Pratham will also provide placement and entrepreneurship support to these candidates after they have finished their training.
The organization also added that they have been working to close the skill gap and have been offering providing industry-specific training to young individuals who come from underprivileged backgrounds.

Cognizance 2018 Convener, Manmohan Singh Charan, stated that the technical festival has taken up various social problems and is planning to find solutions for them over the years. He also added that the institute has been working rigorously to promote the campaign but it has been able to contribute less as they are a non-profit student organization.
