The Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has been ranked no. 9 among various research & teaching institutes in the country in the India Rankings 2016 prepared by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The India Rankings 2016 is the first-of-its-kind indigenous ranking framework for higher education institutions. The first set of the awards were presented by Hon’ble Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani.
While talking on the occasion, Prof. S. K. Das, Director, IIT Ropar said, “We are extremely happy to be there. We have been ranked among the top 10 Engineering Institutes in the country and being a new IIT, this is a big achievement for us. It is even more satisfying to note that we have topped the list with respect to ‘teaching, learning and resources’ and ‘graduation outcome’.”
The Director also said that the institute have also done very well in research. This is a benchmark that institute have set for and hope to continue their effort in field of engineering research and aim to be among the top 5 research & teaching institutes in the coming few years.
