State-run organisations or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are expected to hire more students from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) this year. The placement season at IITs is all set to begin from December 1, 2017, and PSUs will visit the campuses to hire students by offering better packages than multi-national companies. Top IITs across the country have already decided to open a window next month specifically for PSUs and agencies such as ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) so that they could hire students.

Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur) and Indian Institute of Technology (Roorkee) are aiming to double the offers made by PSUs, and it could be possible only by inviting them earlier. According to sources, IIT Kharagpur is inviting around 100 PSUs this year. Usually, many students who participate on the first day of placements prefer joining core companies. Therefore, it is the best opportunity for these students to secure jobs in PSUs.
On the other hand, IIT Guwahati and IIT BHU are also working harder to invite more PSUs this year. ISRO has already assured to visit IITs for recruiting students this year, while the other PSUs are yet to confirm their campus visits.
