State Code of Eligibility in JoSAA Counselling 2024
For the purpose of seat allotments to NITs, the candidates should refer to the state code of eligibility criteria of JoSAA here in the following section:
- The State code of eligibility refers to the code of state from where the candidates have completed their class XI or equivalent exam. The codes of the states will be similar to the JEE Main 2024 guidelines. Note, that the state code of eligibility does not depend on the native place or the place of the candidate’s residence. For instance, if the candidates appear for the class XII exam in Delhi and also reside in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, then the state of conduct of the candidates will be Delhi state and not that of Uttar Pradesh
- If the candidates have appeared from Class XII or equivalent exam from one state but appeared for the improvement from other states, then the state code of conduct of the candidates will be from where the students first appeared the Class XII or equivalent exam and not from the state where the candidates have appeared for improvement
- For the Indian Nationals who passed Class XII or equivalent exams from an institution abroad (for instance, Nepal, Bhutan, Gulf Countries, UK, Sri Lanka, US, Canada etc), the State of Conduct will be determined based on the permanent address of India (similar given as passport). Such candidates should upload their Indian passport along with the Class XII or equivalent exam certificate
- The state code of eligibility of OCI/PIO (who secured OCI/PIO card before March 4, 2021) passing Class XII or equivalent examination in India. Nevertheless, the OCI/PIO passing the class XII exam from an institution abroad can apply for the Open State Quota seats or the All India quota seats (but not for the Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IIEST and other GFTIs
