It is like a bumper season for US Jobs offer at the first placement season in IIT Delhi . International job offers for B.Tech graduates from IIT Delhi has gone upto 40 in 2017 compared to a mere 8 in 2015.

Sharing the information, an officer from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi's Placement Cell said that students from the institute got 8 offers in the last placement season in 2015 from USA, whereas in 2016, out of the 40 international offers, 20 are from USA only. Most of the students who got international job offers chose US-based companies instead of other countries, because they believed that US-based companies provide better growth opportunities and career prospects. These companies are paying over Rs. 60 Lakh in annual salaries to B.Tech students of IT sectors.
Apart from USA, the following countries have made the maximum number of job offers:
- Singapore
- Japan
- Taiwan
After the first placement session that started on December 1, 2016, around 60% students has already been placed. The second phase of placement is to start from the first week of January 2017. Around 73% students were placed in core jobs of the IT sector. Significantly, in 2016, the presence of start-up companies have reduced drastically. Even IIMs have seen the presence of less number of start-ups in 2016.

All IIT's have seen the presence of PSU on their campus for recruitment. A number of PSU are expected to visit in the second round of the placement season in January 2017. This is because of the controversial hiring process of Flipkart in 2015. Both the Maharatnas and Navratnas had participated in the recruitment process at the campus.
