The country’s first university for the transgender community will be established in Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh. The first of its kind university is being built by Bhartiya Kinnar Siksha Seva Sang which is India’s transgender education service trust. The foundation is getting laid in Fazilnagar block and it will accommodate students from classes one to PG. They can also conduct their research work and get a Ph.D. Degree from the organization.
President of the Trust, Dr. Krishna Mohan Mishra informed that the university will be first of its kind and the process regarding the same has already been initiated. The classes will start on January 15, 2020, and two children who have been brought up by the community will get admission.

Khushinagar district’s MLA, Ganga Singh Kushwaha expressed his delight to the news. He considers it as a step that not only can provide the right education to transgenders but can also give direction to the entire nation.

The transgender community is thrilled by the news and one of the members named Guddi Kinnar even conveyed happiness through words. According to Guddi, education has immense power and that this decision has the potential of changing the fates of their community as well as that of others.
