Indian Army has introduced new eligibility criteria in which CLAT PG score is mandatory for the Short Service Commission (NT) Judge Advocate General (JAG) entry. From JAG 30th notification, CLAT score will be compulsory along with an aggregate of 55% marks in LLB degree. The lw graduates can directly sit for an SSC interview without giving any written exam. Candidates currently pursuing LLB should follow the new eligibility criteria in order to become the JAG in Indian Army from 2023. The last date to apply for SSC is April 6, 2022.
An official statement said that the CLAT (PG) score of the preceding year will be made applicable with effect from April 2023 onwards. It further stated that candidates (men and women) applying for SSC (JAG)-30 course (April 2023) and SSC (JAG)-31 course (Oct 2023) will be required to provide a valid CLAT (PG) 2022 score.
JAG Entry: New Eligibility Criteria
The new eligibility criteria should be fulfilled by contenders who want to become Judge Advocates in the Indian Army. Given below are the new eligibility criteria for the same-
- The application is made under a short service commission.
- Only unmarried men and women can fill out the application form.
- The candidate must be an Indian Citizen. In case, they are born in India but live in a neighbouring country, they can also apply.
- The age of candidates must be between 21 to 27 years old.
- The candidates must have an LLB degree with a minimum of 55% marks in total.
- It is compulsory for candidates to register with the Bar Council of India (BCI).
