On Wednesday, 13th March 2019, the Indian Embassy in Nepal announced that 200 scholarships will be given to the meritorious students of Nepal for continuing several undergraduate courses in universities and colleges. This scholarship is called the Golden Jubilee Scholarship scheme and it was started in 2002 by the Indian Government to mark fifty years of economic cooperation between India and Nepal.
During its inception, the scheme awarded 50 exemplary Nepali students with this scholarship. The students who will be the recipients of this scholarship this year belong to 36 different undergraduate courses. These courses include BBA , BE, MBBS , B.Sc, and BDS . These recipients also represent fifty different districts of Nepal.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal said that out of the total number of students who are being awarded this scholarship, 45% are girls and 8% of students who are differently abled.

In a function, Manjeev Singh Puri, who is the Ambassador of India to Nepal, presented the scholarship-winning students with certificates. This was done in the presence of the Secretary of Education of Nepal, Khaga Raj Baral.
Manjeev Singh Puri congratulated the recipients while advising them to achieve their professional as well as personal fulfilment. He said that would contribute in favour of the socio-economic development of Nepal and will also strengthen and deepen the India-Nepal ties.
Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2019
A student of MBBS or BDS will get NRs. 4,000/- monthly for five years
A student of BE will get NRs. 4,000/- monthly for a duration of four years
A student of any other undergraduate course will get NRs. 3,000/- monthly for a span of three years.
