Infosys will be partnering with the Community College of Rhode Island for setting up a digital economy aspirations lab. This will help train students in the US for digital jobs.

Infosys will tie-up with the Community College of Rhode Island for establishing a digital economy aspirations lab to equip students in the US for digital jobs. The information regarding the same was officially communicated by Infosys on February 13, 2019.

The IT-firm said their design centre located at Providence in Rhode Island will help in reducing the gap for design and human-centric skills and offer digital technologies to the clients. The firm’s technology-cum-innovation hubs are in Indiana, Richardson in Texas, Raleigh in North Carolina, Phoenix in Arizona, Providence in Rhode Island and Hartford in Connecticut.

This centre trains graduates and designers in digital skills, provides exposure to strategy, platforms, and organization domains to make them ready for employment in the digital domain.

The $11 billion IT firm has so far hired 100 techies to create almost 500 jobs in Rhode Island by the year 2022. As per the statement, they have hired more than 7000 American workers since spring 2017 as a part of their commitment to enhance the digital innovation of US enterprise clients.

The firm had mentioned on May 2, 2017, that they will hire about 10,000 people to bridge the technology gap in the US and also reach the target of setting up six technology-cum-innovation hubs across North America by 2022-23. The graduates who will be hired will be trained to create solutions for business challenges.

Thinking critically is very important for building human-centric solutions for digital transformation. With the increase in demand for talent with design skills, the company will be training American workers, Infosys Chief Executive Sahil Parekh said.

Gina Raimondo, Rhode Island Governor also praised Infosys for setting up its new centre in Providence. The digital lab is a pioneer in education and workforce development for the community college students for their careers in the digital economy, Infosys President Ravi Kumar said.
