Instructions to Upload Photograph and Signature in IIT JAM Application Form 2023

IIT JAM Application Form 2023 is now available for submission online at https://jam.iitg.ac.in. The application form was released on September 07, 2022 and the last date to fill out the form is October 11, 2022. As no form correction facility will later be provided, it is important to get all the details and specifications correct, otherwise, all such applications are liable to be rejected.

Here, the detailed specifications and instructions regarding the photograph and signature to be uploaded are listed here as per the requirements given by IIT Guwahati, the exam’s organizing institute. However, before applying, once recheck and ensure to meet the given eligibility criteria. The direct link to the application form is attached below as well. IIT JAM 2023 will be conducted on February 12, 2023 (Sunday).

IIT JAM Application Form 2023: Photograph Instructions

The photograph to be uploaded in IIT JAM 2023 Application Form must adhere to the following instructions. Any photograph found to not be meeting the given guidelines may lead to the rejection of the application.

• The photograph must be recent, preferably taken in 2022, and should have good picture quality. This photograph will be attached to your admit card and score card afterwards.
• The photograph must not be black and white. A coloured photograph is mandatory.
• The background of the photograph should preferably be white or at most, very light in colour (if a colour background is used at all).
• Strictly avoid clicking the photograph with mobile phones or cropping the photo from another photograph. Only use a studio camera to click the photo.
• The photo should be clicked such that the face is looking towards the camera and the face occupies at least 50% area of the photo. Moreover, the forehead, eyes, nose, ears, chin, and a part of the neck should clearly be visible.
• Do not cover your ears with hair or wear goggles to cover your eyes. If you usually wear spectacles, ensure that there is no glare on glasses. If glare persists, click the photo without the spectacles. Also, only spectacles with clear glasses are allowed. Tinted/dark spectacles are not allowed.
• The size, format, dimensions, pixel size, etc. must be as per the given guidelines, which are as follows:
  • Width: 3.5 cm
  • Height: 4.5 cm
  • Aspect Ratio (Width : Height): Between 0.66 to 0.89
  • Maximum Pixel Size (Width x Height): 480 x 640 px
  • Minimum Pixel Size (Width x Height): 240 x 320 px
  • File Type: JPEG or JPG only
  • File Size: Between 20 KB to 200 KB

IIT JAM Application Form 2023: Signature Instructions

Similarly to that of the photograph, any signature not meeting the given specifications may lead to the application form being rejected:

• The signature must be done using a black or dark blue ink pen only. Signatures in any other colours or using markers, etc. will be rejected.
• The signature must not be your name written in the capital (uppercase) letters or merely your initials.
• Be sure that the scanned signature is properly visible, has a white background, and is not blurry.
• Technical specifications of the signature are as follows:
  • Width: 7 cm
  • Height: 2 cm
  • Aspect Ratio (Width : Height): Between 3.15 to 4.04
  • Maximum Pixel Size (Width x Height): 560 x 160 px
  • Minimum Pixel Size (Width x Height): 280 x 80 px
  • File Type: JPEG or JPG only
  • File Size: Between 5 KB to 150 KB
