 International Symposium on ‘Fostering Tourism for Global Peace Organised in Bhubaneshwar

School of Hotel Management, Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University, Bhubaneshwar in association with the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (India Chapter) and Indian Tourism Hospitality Congress organized a syposium in Bhubaneswar from the 1st to 3rd of Feb, 2016. “Any crisis is the beginning of a new opportunity and in the turbulent times the world is currently faced with, tourism is one such industry which can spread peace across the world as it is an industry of hospitality,” observed His Excellency Dr. Toni Atanasovski, Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to India, at the International Symposium on ‘Fostering Tourism for Global Peace: Opportunities & Challenges’. Prof (Dr) Amit Banerjee, Vice Chancellor, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University presided over the event.

Mr. Sheikh Farooq Alam, Managing Director of Sheikh Trading Company, Port Blair said, “If people want to see real peace and harmony, they should come to the A&N Islands. Our islands are the best place for peace tourism and patriotic tourism as there have never been any riots or any sort of religious fanaticism in the islands. Instead there is a unique social environment of complete linguistic and communal harmony in our islands.”

In his special message, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi also expressed his happiness on the conduct of the international symposium.

Dr. Sitikantha Mishra, Chairman, All India Board of Hospitality & Tourism Management, Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, Director IITTM, Gwalior, Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Bansal, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Agresan University, Viviek Patnayak, IAS (Retd) and Dr. Tapan K. Panda, former Director, IIM, Indore and Dean, BML Munjal University, Mr. Ajay Prakash, President IIPT (India) were among the elite list of participants in the symposium.
