A review meeting that was held to introduce NCERT syllabus from Class 6 received a positive response from the principals of various schools. The meeting took place on December 21, 2016, where a total number of 38 principals of different schools in Gujarat attended and gave their feedback as well as discussed merit and demerits.

The Board will hold another meeting with the principals of 18 schools in Surat in the last week of December. However, most of the principals are planning to give a positive response to the introduction of NCERT syllabus from Class 6. One of the principals stated that students will not find it difficult when he/ she reaches higher classes if NCERT syllabus is introduced from Class 6.
He claimed the decision to be a good move and indicated that teachers must be given necessary training according to the new syllabus. There is a need to select the module of question paper, and students must be trained in preparing for examinations by given a due weightage to particular topics. Currently, this move is being implemented for students of Class 9, and there are some recommendations for the introduction of same to Class 10.

R. Patel, Secretary, of GSHSER pointed that the examinations for Mathematics, Science and English will be conducted in a format prescribed by the state board and the examination is based on NCERT syllabus. The state board will issue the mark sheets. Some of the principals who attended the meeting also suggested incorporating some changes in Class 11 & 2 too.
