Andhra University will soon hire foreign faculty and research scholars. Recently, the Government of India granted autonomous status to some of the universities in India and Andhra University is one among them that has been placed in Category I. As per the UGC guidelines, Category I universities will have higher autonomy . These institutes are free to hire international faculty. Therefore, Andhra University has initiated the process of recruiting foreign faculty to create an international exposure to students.

Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, Professor G Nageswara Rao revealed that the varsity is able to bag greater autonomy due to its outstanding NAAC score of more than 3.5. With the status of greater autonomy, the varsity can enrol more international students and research scholars . The varsity is aiming to feature in the list of top universities across the state. For this purpose, the varsity has planned numerous activities and recruiting international faculty is one among them.

Director of International Affairs – Andhra University, Professor Dhanamjaya Rao explained that the varsity is aiming to improve the intake of international students. Similarly, collaborations with various foreign universities will be also rolled out soon. The varsity will soon establish a Patent Cell so that the faculty of Andhra University can file patents for their research findings, he added.
Under the Institute of Eminence (IoE) category , Andhra University is expected to get Rs. 1,000 crore from the central government. Similarly, the varsity will also get Rs. 100 crore under RUSA.
