Jamia Milia Islamia is on the path of being the first central university in the city to mark its presence on social media. The university has chosen Instagram and Linkedin, two completely opposite social media platforms to debut.
Not only Instagram and LinkedIn, but the University of Jamia Milia Islamia is also working to launch its official twitter handle. The institute has already a verified facebook page which is functional on behalf of the university with more than 36,500 followers.

According to Ahmed Azeem, Jamia Milia Islamia media coordinator said that the steps to increase presence on the social media are for making an appeal and interaction with the youth, the LinkedIn handle will deal with professional industry interaction and publish student research projects.
He said that the Instagram handle will be used to post pictures of the university and also the pictures of student programmes, cultural programs, and other important events. More than 50 events take place in Jamia every year at a given point of time. Azeem claimed that the Instagram handle will make the events more widespread increasing the eyeballs of youth towards the university.
The handle username has been fixed as ‘jamiamilliaislamia_official.’ It will be an important step as the other two central universities in Delhi, which are Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University do not have any presence in social media even though JNU VC M.Jagadesh Kumar is popular for is activeness on Twitter.

Recently Jamia Milia Islamia acquired the 12th position on the NIRF List 2019 published by the Ministry of Human Resource Development or MHRD. The extended presence on the social media of JMI will come just before 2020 when the university will celebrate its bicentenary.
